The fight for truly affordable housing and neighborhood control of development in Nubian Square* continues!

  • Since 2015 the City has a planning process to develop 13 parcels ____ sq ft of public land in Nubian Square* in accordance with the Roxbury Strategic Master Plan
  • We have been advocating since 2015 for public land in Roxbury to be used for public good. We have emphasized the need for truly affordable housing for Roxbury residents, housing the average Roxbury resident can afford, not simply "affordable housing" as defined by _____.
  • We have also advocated for opportunities for affordable home ownership, and for land trusts to steward the land
  • Through our efforts the BPDA and DND have written into the requests for proposals many details that we advocated for including
    • when housing is being developed 60% affordable ( 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 ) housing in stead of the 13% normally required for projects financed by, on the property owned by, or requiring zoning relief .
    • development without displacement plans required
    • affordable home ownership + cooperatives
  • 4 of the 13 projects have developers selected by PRC's made up of RSMPOC members and community members who have signed up. If you want to get involved with a future PRC let us know: reclaimroxbury@gmail.com
    • Project 1
    • project 2
    • project 3
    • project 4
  • So far X amount of housing coming to Nubian Sq, at ___ and __ affordability levels
