About Reclaim Roxbury:
Reclaim Roxbury is a community organization dedicated to improving the quality of life and economic wealth for Roxbury residents by preventing displacement and supporting economic development. Since 2015 we have organized Roxbury residents to make sure public land is developed according to a community led vision. We are continuing to build upon our success in winning the 2018 Plan:Nubian Sq standards and serve as a watchdog organization that is a trusted community source on local development news and housing policy. We organize residents year round to build power to prevent displacement in Roxbury and advance fair housing policies.
About the Position:
The Director of Organizing will play a pivotal role in advancing Reclaim Roxbury's mission by leading community organizing efforts, and fostering strategic partnerships. This position offers an exciting opportunity for an individual with a passion for community engagement and a commitment to social justice.
Responsibilities:
-Work under the supervision of the Executive Director to steward existing and build new relationships with residents, community leaders, local institutions, and elected officials to advance Reclaim Roxbury's objectives.
- Lead our nonpartisan Summer Civic team aimed at educating and mobilizing Roxbury residents of the importance of voting as a part of addressing local challenges and encouraging turn out for upcoming elections
- Support ongoing strategic campaigns, like our efforts for public land for public good in Roxbury, and represent Reclaim Roxbury in coalition advocacy efforts, like the Homes for All Coalition.
- Facilitate recruitment through 1:1’s with interested residents, and build leadership opportunities for block captains, civic team members, and general members.
- Represent Reclaim Roxbury in neighborhood organization meetings, coalitions, and public forums.
- Support communications strategies, including social media, email campaigns, and community outreach materials
- Collaborate with ED and partner organizations to align organizing efforts with broader community development initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in community organizing, advocacy, or related fields.
- Strong commitment to social, economic, and racial justice.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships, mobilize communities, and facilitate group processes.
- Excellent communication skills, including public speaking, writing, and interpersonal communication.
-Proficient with Zoom and/or Google meet
- Proficiency in Spanish, Haitian Creole, or another language commonly spoken in Roxbury is a plus.
- Familiarity with the Roxbury community and its socio-economic dynamics.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
-Must have a drivers license + ability to drive
Salary and Benefits:
- Hybrid + In person position - must be available to work in office 3-4 days a week
-$60-$70k includes wages and benefits, commensurate with experience.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Civic Team position provides civic team member with opportunities to learn through experience about key aspects of strengthening civic engagement in the Roxbury community. Team members will help support the Reclaim Roxbury team with community outreach and event planning. The position is ideal for candidates who are beginners and have an investment in Roxbury and want to learn more about community organizing.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
● Participate in trainings on civic engagement
● Outreach to community members through flyering, phone calls, and texting ● Draft social media and email blast content
● Assist with logistics and implementation of community events
● Administrative tasks as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS
● Must be 18 years or older
● Valid Mass State ID/Drivers License
● Have a strong connection to Roxbury
● Own a cell phone
● Be comfortable with door knocking, phone banking and texting, and working in Roxbury.

$18 - $20 an hour
JOB TYPE
Part time contract worker (10 – 20 hours a week). Contract last 8 weeks, with a flexible start date.
