Reclaim Roxbury invites you to celebrate community-oriented development and the bold visions bringing new investments and attention to Nubian Square.

By highlighting the industry leaders focused on building sustainable communities, this celebration will gather stakeholders from business, policy, and the community to learn about Reclaim Roxbury’s successful model that is being deployed across the City of Boston.

The Celebration of Roxbury Legends honors Greg Janey with the 2026 Roxbury Legend Award for representing the talent of Roxbury-raised pioneers, for his leadership of Janey Construction Management and for his transformative role ensuring Boston's physical growth creates local economic power.

Join us as we celebrate the continued revitalization of Nubian Square as an economic, social, and creative hub that amplifies these values, as we announce the arrival of several projects and initiatives to a wider community, and continue the mission of connecting Roxbury locals with institutions that grow the neighborhood together.

2026 ROXBURY LEGEND HONOREE: Greg Janey

Gregory Janey is the President and CEO of JANEY Construction Management, a firm he co-founded in 1984. A Roxbury native, Janey has over 30 years of experience managing complex institutional, commercial, and residential programs ranging in value from $5 million to over $500 million. Throughout his career, he has remained consistent about in leveraging his education, advocacy, and deep industry experience to build excellence with his business, represent our community, and uplift black voices as he has become one of the largest builders of affordable housing and community developments in the state.

Raised in Roxbury, Greg Janey’s work has now made an impression on all of Boston as one of the city's most prolific builders. He has contributed significantly to the groundbreaking expansion of Northeastern University's campus and made history as the first African American to chair the Board of Trustees at Wentworth Institute of Technology. A founding officer of the Massachusetts Minority Contractors Association, Janey’s leadership is reflected in his service on the boards of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce and Year Up Greater Boston, and as a Trustee for the Boys & Girls Club of Boston. In addition to his professional scale, he remains dedicated to the local fabric of the city through his work on community centers and affordable housing.

In all of his work, Greg Janey ensures that Roxbury residents and Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) are central to the construction and revitalization of their own communities. For representing the leadership of Roxbury's own, and for committing to growing a better city for everyone, Reclaim Roxbury is honoring Greg Janey with the 2026 Roxbury Legends Award.

Their leadership under Roxbury native Greg Janey has contributed to groundbreaking and defining buildings for nonprofits, health centers, housing & community projects, public infrastructure and major commercial uses.
